And now - the dinners!

As part of the vacation plans, we decided that every " couple" would make a dinner. Up to this point we have had fried chicken ( yum) by Bev and Clint, a chicken parm dish, and a shrimp pasta dish with frosted brownies for dessert from Donnie and Ellen! Kris and very tasty gumbo with sausage and chicken over rice, with corn bread and brownies. Bev and Clint were up and made a lasagna for a crowd! ( way to much - so we had leftovers the next night!) Carol jumped in with a super beef stew in two hugh crockpots. Kris and Lexi were up again and made two huge crockpots of chili with rice! Really good!
With all the people we were feeding its a good thing this kitchen came with a crockpot and Lexi brought hers from home!
So far everything was great and whatever leftovers there was, were being eaten for lunches and snacks!
By now Van,Tracy, Neil, Kevin, and Nicole have shown up and are ready to join in the cookoff.
Katrina and Brandon arrived very late on Friday so missed out on dinner so far!Lexi made a
Over the next two nights we had dinner from Kevin and Nicole ( with Van cooking hamburgers and hotdogs) and Tracy and Neil.
Kevin and Nicole made a wonderful shrimp and pineapple appetizer and Nicole's family recipe for Mac and Cheese. They both were great! Kevin finished up with two homemade apple pies ( and a sweet story from Nicole)
The apple pies were served, late that night after the kids all came back from fireworks on the beach. Tracy, Neil, Kevin, and Nicole rode their bikes the 21/1 miles to the beach, followed by Kris and Eric on the scooter! What a sight to see them all ride off. The rest of us stayed back at the house and watched fireworks in the sky all around us.
Even Cairo was watching!

More sun, fun, and beer!

The party continues...

The next few days continues pretty much the same... Sunny and warm! Thank goodness for Central AC!
We all work on the puzzle in the living room...

There are several trips to the State beaches, Fenmore and Nation Seashore Beach for sun, fun, and body surfing!

July 27th, 2010

Today we all got up at different times! As usual, Van was up first followed by Lexi and Bev.
Today people hung out, went Kayaking, picked up a beer 1/4 keg, and went to the pool.

Van brought down Carol's scooter and we took rides on it in the area.

Donnie and Ellen showed up and made a delicious dinner of shrimp and chicken and pastas.

After brunch and pictures, we packed up both cars and headed off to Bethany Beach! We arrived around 3pm and located the house. We were surprised to find a car in the driveway and were a little worried.... but it turned out to be the cleaning women!

After we ran around and checked out the house, we unpacked, and went food shopping for some dinner. Clint and Bev bought home a ton of fried chicken and mashed potatoes!

Carol, Van and Eric arrived in time for dinner, and Kris and Lexi showed up soon after.

Today Uncle Bill and Aunt Janet ( Karen's brother and sister in law) are coming to Donnie and Ellen's house for Brunch at 10:30. They live nearby and want to say hello!
Ellen did a great job on setting up a brunch. We had cold cuts, salads, a fresh fruit bowl, breads, egg and sausage casserole and of course, a cake!

Don and Karen's 60th Anniversary Trip begins!

June 25th, 2010

11;00 am - Don, Karen, Bev and Clint, pack up both cars and head for Donnie and Ellen's new house in Hockessin, Delaware. We headed down the New Jersey Turnpike, where it turns out, Donnie is driving home from a business trip on Long Island and is 5 mile ahead of us! We arrange to meet at a rest stop to have something to eat and drink, and then Karen rides with Donnie the rest of the way to Donnie's house.
We arrived around 4pm and are met by Ellen.
After a tour of their lovely new house, we have drinks and appetizers, followed by a wonderful catered dinner of chicken parmesan and an eggplant dish.
After dinner we shared a beautiful cake that Ellen bought, and it was delicious!
More talking and exploring Donnie and Ellens house, and off to bed!
